My new home from May to August (unless I hear from Yosemite...)

My new home from May to August (unless I hear from Yosemite...)

So, after many weeks of stressing about being newly graduated and instantly unemployed, I was just offered a GeoCorps internship position at Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve!  Yeah, out in the middle of nowhere Idaho but I’ve never been to Idaho so this will be interesting…  I received a phone call from the head park ranger yesterday, but lo and behold, the moment I stepped out of the shower, my phone sent it to voicemail.  Upon hearing that he wanted to conduct a phone interview, I sat around unable to focus, and finally, 4 hours later he called me back.

It was the strangest phone interview ever.  It was called an “interview” but he basically was telling me what my duties would be and what to expect.  Now, as I listened to him go on and on, I thought to myself if this was one of those hypothetical “if you were to get the position, these would be your duties.”  But sure enough, dangling the carrot in front of my face long enough, he concluded saying he was offering the job to me.

Needless to say, I am VERY happy.  I still have two other possible internships through the GeoCorps program, one at Yosemite NP and the other at Guadalupe Mountains NP.  Although I’ve already said yes to this Craters position, I will say… if I get so lucky to be offered the Yosemite one, I might have to break some hearts.

It’s about damn time.  :)

Intentions February 25, 2009

So as my first post, I thought I should share what the purpose of this blog may be.  I wish I could say that I’ll be posting all my amazing photos and stories from my adventures abroad, but alas, I won’t be doing anything too interesting for awhile.  Certainly, I will attempt to have some spontaneous adventures though.

Anyway, this blog is pretty random so I’ll probably just post things near and dear to my heart.  Maybe a few cool geo photos.  Keep in touch!
